Speakeasy Office Remodel

This one was for Mel's husband Corey, who works hard day in and day out in his home office. Instead of dreading going into a dull boring space (that was kind of gross and discolored), he now feels proud and happy to be in HIS space each day. Worth it!

In a house full of kids, pets and noise, he wanted a home office space that reflected his personality and felt like his own. This speakeasy / whiskey room vibe fits the bill perfectly and now he really loves his space.

We chose to color drench the room (walls + trim + door) with the green paint color Sherwin Williams Olympic Range. When we did this we opted for a matte finish for two reasons.

  1. Matte paint looks better on textured walls. It helps prevent light from looking shiny on the corners of all the little texture bumps.

  2. When you paint the walls a dark color and it has a sheen, you notice that light bouncing a lot more on a dark color. So when going dark on your walls, matte paint can be a great choice to give your room that little something extra.
